Nessel says attorneys “gaming out” election challenges

WGVU

State Attorney General Dana Nessel says she expects more lawsuits regardless of the outcome of the November elections. In an interview on Michigan Public Television, Nessel said there are multiple legal teams in her office preparing to defend or challenge how the election was handled.

“We are gaming out every potential scenario that could possibly take place, irrespective of what it is," Nessel said.

That includes efforts to intimidate voters or misinform people on where or how to cast a ballot. Absentee voting has already started in Michigan, and the state is still involved in litigation over the rules for counting those ballots.

The election could turn on the outcome of those lawsuits because of the high number of absentee ballots and the anticipation of some a close election.
