Muskegon Bike Time returns 'bigger, better and louder than ever'

Thousands of motorcycles will fill up the streets of Muskegon this weekend in an effort to raise money for victims of domestic abuse.  According to officials, thousands motorcycle enthusiasts from across the country will descend upon Lakeshore streets this weekend, as the 13th annual Muskegon Bike Time kicks off Thursday and ends this Sunday.

The event is expected to draw over 100,000 people to Muskegon over the four day period to witness the sea of motorcycles that will take over the downtown area, and according to spokesperson Tim Lipan, this year’s event hopes to be “bigger, better, and louder than ever.”

“Basically we are here to showcase West Michigan, and create an economic boon for Muskegon County,” Lipan said.

But the motorcycle extravaganza is not without a good cause…in addition to be an economic driver for the area, on Saturday hundreds of motorcyclists will take part in the Patriot Ride, a one-and-a-half hour long police escorted motorcycle cruise around Muskegon County---all in an effort to raise money for victims of domestic abuse.

“I’ll tell you what bikers are some of the most friendly people that you will ever meet,” Lipan said.

According to Bike Time officials, the event contributes around $30 million to the local economy each year.
