A Republican state House candidate and demolition company owner found himself jailed on primary election day on a pollution complaint. Holton Township Supervisor Alan Jager was booked Tuesday and released that day after posting bond. He's accused of failing to contain asbestos at a demolition site in western Michigan's Muskegon.
Jager was defeated in the primary for the 91st state House seat. The district covers parts of Muskegon County. Jager's Press's LLC was contracted to demolish a factory. Muskegon County Chief Trial Attorney Matt Roberts said it's alleged that asbestos at the site was negligently disbursed.
A felony air pollution complaint was issued July 10. The Associated Press left a message Monday at Jager's company seeking comment.
