There are a number of college savings plans. The Michigan Education Trust is hosting open enrollment sessions this month across the state. The Michigan Education Trust is the state’s 529 prepaid college tuition plan. It’s operated by the Michigan Department of Treasury.
“And basically, it allows parents to purchase credit hours at today’s cost for the future education of their young person.”

“So, this spring we’re hosting six enrollment sessions, they’re called open enrollment sessions, that allow families to come out and have face-to-face conversations with MET staff to get started, to start saving. The wonderful thing about these enrollment sessions is that we also offer a $100 match for you to come out, and we also wave the $25 enrollment fee. So, if you come out and open a MET contract by just purchasing a one credit hour, you’re eligible to receive that match and waver.”
MET staff are hosting an enrollment session Thursday March 5th from 3:00 to 7:00pm at the Kent District Library-Grandville Branch at 4055 Maple St. SW in Grandville.
