MI SOS: Nearly 1 million absentee ballots still out there, voters shouldn't mail them at this point

With the election just a week away, the Michigan Secretary of State’s office says early voting has hit record numbers, with more people casting ballots early already than in all of 2016. Of the 3.1 million absentee ballots requested, officials say 2.1 million have already been turned in. Jocelyn Benson is Michigan’s Secretary of State. She says to make sure the vote is counted; her office has some advice for the 1 million absentee voters who have yet to turn in their ballots.

“Well we want voters to know, to not rely on the postal service this close to election day, if you have your ballot, deliver it at your clerk’s office or drop at off at a ballot box,” Benson said.

Absentee ballot voting is nearly double of what it was in 2016.
