Mel Trotter is reaching out to help the homeless and those who are hungry during the holidays.
A free luncheon is expected to feed hundreds this holiday season.
“Now more than ever I think that this luncheon is so,so important, just to provide an opportunity for those experiencing homelessness to come in and see a glimmer of hope and enjoy the festivities in a safe environment.”
Adrienne Goodstal is the Vice President of Community Engagement and Advocacy for Mel Trotter Ministries. She says tomorrow’s luncheon will provide a festive holiday meal so those who are hungry and/or homeless can experience at least a bit of holiday cheer.
“Between the music and the guests in our dining hall is decorated beautifully. It’s a traditional lunch, the ham, potatoes, rolls and pie. And they’ll be able to sit down and enjoy and feel a bit of holiday spirit in the midst of all that is going on right now.”
Goodstal says much like their Thanksgiving meal, they will adhere to COVID safety requirements. Those who attend, will be seated in shifts so as to maintain social distancing guidelines. Each attendee will receive a Christmas gift and will also have the option of watching a movie. Again, temperature checks and social distancing are required. Mel Trotter officials are expecting approximately 250 people. The event is free and open to the public, tomorrow from 11 am to 1:30.
