The latest numbers: Michigan reports no new COVID-19 deaths, hospitalizations are down too

The number of confirmed cases of the coronavirus in Michigan has risen to nearly 83 thousand as of Sunday, including over 6000 deaths, state officials report.

The good news, Michigan reported no new COVID-19 deaths and 426 new confirmed cases, health officials said Sunday.

That being said, new cases have increased moderately in recent weeks, however, deaths remain flat in Michigan. Testing has remained steady, with an average of more than 25,000 per day, with the positive rate between 3 and 4 percent. Hospitalizations have increased slightly, but remain considerably lower than in April.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Service on Sunday said there have been 82,782 cases and 6,206 deaths since the start of the pandemic.

The other good news, of people who are infected, the statewide fatality rate has dropped from 9.5% in June to 7.5%. as of Sunday.
