GRPD asking for help finding bank robbery suspect

The Grand Rapids Police Department is asking for the public’s help in finding a suspect who robbed a bank Monday afternoon and attempted a second robbery four hours earlier.

According to Grand Rapids Police, 56-year-old Kenneth Moore is believed to have held up the Fifth Third Bank at 700 Bridge Street around 1:10 PM by claiming he had a weapon. He left on foot. Earlier in the day, police say Moore attempted a similar robbery at separate Fifth Third Bank three miles away, however, no cash was given to the suspect.

A parole absconder, Moore served three years in the Michigan Department of Corrections on assault less than murder as well as felony firearms and prison weapons charges.

Moore is described as African-American, 5-foot-11, 175 pounds and is known to wear glasses.

If you have seen Moore or know his whereabouts, you are asked to call GRPD Sgt. Purlee at 616.456.3343, Detective Johnson at 616.456.4112 or Silent Observer at 616.774.2345.
