Grand River Greenway Trail Project making headway

An ambitious goal of connecting Ottawa County and Kent County parks while protecting thousands of acres of wetlands is one step closer to reality, as Ottawa County officials have announced a major development in the Grand River Greenway Trail Project.

According to the Ottawa County Parks and Recreation Commission and the Ottawa County Parks Foundation, three separate land owners have agreed to sell 118 acres in Robinson Township at the south end of Stearns Bayou.

The $41 million project has been a primary focus for the parks department for the past 20 years. The goal is to protect thousands of acres of natural lands, create green infrastructure, and develop new recreational opportunities while connecting the communities in between

Once completed, the overall project would connect Grand Haven in Ottawa County to Millennium Park in Kent County.
