On Tuesday the Grand Rapids City Commission approved a licensing ordinance for recreational marijuana facilities.  Here is Grand Rapids Acting Planning Director, Kristin Turkelson explaining the ordinance to the city commission.

“So this licensing ordinance that you have before you today would effectively serve as an opt in for recreational marijuana meaning that it would allow for recreational marijuana facilities to operate within the city as well as medical marijuana facilities that we currently allow.”

The ordinance also has some universal design requirements so that employees and customers with disabilities can access all local marijuana facilities.

Although the ordinance was approved this week – it will give the city six months to come up with zoning regulation and local licensing process and will be on April 20, 2020 that the city will begin taking recreational licenses application.
