The governor wants to make sure state departments and local agencies can respond to areas contaminated with PFAS chemicals as quickly as possible. The industrial chemicals have been found in more than 30 locations across the state. n 2017, the governor created the Michigan PFAS Action Response Team to investigate and take action on a state level. Now he wants the state agencies in the response team to coordinate with local agencies and figure out best response practices. The idea is to make sure everyone is on the same page if PFAS chemicals are found in their area.

“We want to be ready in case something else happens, how do we respond as quickly and effectively as possible and that’s what this is about,” Adler said.
The plan also calls for the state health department to set aside money in its 20-19 budget for a fund that local governments can draw from to help with contamination.
