A Grand Rapids-based electronics company is expanding and adding high-tech jobs.

DornerWorks is known for providing electronics and software engineering

services to the aerospace and defense industries. The company says its one of largest embedded engineering design services firms in the nation and it needs to expand its location at Lake Eastbrook Blvd. SE.

DornerWorks will receive a $200,000 Michigan Strategic Fund high-tech grant to help pay for the $1.3 million investment. Regional economic development organization, The Right Place, along with the City of Grand Rapids helped make it happen.

The Right Place says, “The company has recently won multiple Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grants, specifically with the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) and the U.S. Navy.”

Since DornerWorks opened its doors in 2000, it has been involved in a number of aerospace and defense projects utilizing in-demand, high-tech talent.

The $1.3 million expansion will also include adding 25 high-tech jobs.
