An activist group is calling on Michigan Republicans to hurry up and pass a COVID-19 relief bill. Governor Gretchen Whitmer announced her plan last month, but the GOP-led legislature has not yet brought it up for debate.

Doctor Farhan Bhatti is with the left-leaning Committee to Protect Medicare. He says acting quickly will help people.

“As a physician who cares for COVID-19 patients, I'm extremely disappointed that Republican legislators refuse to give health care professionals the resources we need to protect people, reduce sickness, and begin the process of safely returning to normal.”

Senate Republicans have introduced a COVID plan that would roll state and federal money out slowly, while Governor Whitmer’s plan would dish out the cash as quickly as possible, in order to help people and small business faster.
