Detroit police sued for forcing women to bare breasts

Detroit Police Department via Facebook

A lawsuit accusing four suburban Detroit officers of forcing two women to bare their breasts during a traffic stop has prompted an internal investigation.

MLive.com reports that the federal lawsuit, filed Friday, says two women and a man were stopped June 5 for illegally changing lanes on Interstate 75 north of Detroit.

The suit says they were ordered from their SUV and that Hazel Park officers found cocaine on the man. The lawsuit says both women were told to pull up their shirts and bras while at least one officer recorded with a cellphone.

Police Chief Martin Barner tells The Associated Press that the officers are performing their assigned duties because "at this point, there is nothing concrete or proven that we can determine that this even occurred."
