Deported Iraqi’s remains to be returned to US

wikipedia.com

The body of a 41-year-old Iraqi man who was deported will be returned to the US. That’s according to Congressman Andy Levin, a Michigan Democrat.

That will allow Jimmy Aldaoud to be buried alongside his mother.

Levin says his office bargained with the Iraqi government for the return of Aldaoud’s remains. Aldouad was brought to the US as an infant, but was ordered to leave following a series of crimes.
Levin says the man suffered from mental health issues and diabetes and his death in Baghdad appears to be related to not getting the care he needed.

“These deportations are continuing and we’re almost certain that more people will die.”

Levin says Aldaoud and other Iraqis deserve hearings before being deported.
He says the return of Aldaoud’s body will allow his family the chance to mourn, and for him to be buried alongside his mother.
