Grand Rapids Public Schools has a new superintendent, as Monday the board of education voted 7-2 in favor of hiring Dr. Leadriane Roby. Roby comes to Grand Rapids from Minnesota, where she has been the Assistant Superintendent of Richfield Public Schools in Richfield, MN since 2014. The job is a return to West Michigan for the new Superintendent, as Roby earned her Ph.D. in K-12 Educational Leadership, Research, and Technology from Western Michigan University.
In this conversation with WGVU, Roby discusses the moment she found out she had landed the job, what excites her most about the opportunity, and describes what she dreams the district will look like under her leadership.
