California Closets investing in Cascade Charter Township manufacturing expansion

California Closets

California Closets is expanding its manufacturing footprint serving the Eastern United States by investing in a new West Michigan facility. That means more manufacturing jobs are coming to the area.

Two years ago, California Closets opened a manufacturing facility in Phoenix, Arizona to help satisfy the demand for its closet design and storage products in the Western United States.

With 120 showrooms and 700+ designers located across North America, the demand continues to grow triggering the need to manufacture and serve the Eastern United States. California Closets considered sites in Illinois, Georgia, North Carolina and Indiana, but ultimately found West Michigan as the premier location.

The furniture maker will invest over $5.7 million dollars in a new facility near the Gerald R. Ford International Airport and will create more than 60 new jobs.

In a statement, Eric Wolff, President - Fulfillment, California Closets explains, “The location offers proximity to our customers and supply base, but more importantly a strong talent base in manufacturing and design. The West Michigan area has been a leader in forward thinking and furniture-related industries, which fits our direction and future. “

Regional non-profit economic development organization, The Right Place, says it, “assembled a cross-functional team, working with the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) and West Michigan Works! to build the business case and incentive package that ultimately attracted California Closets to West Michigan.”
