Ad Council launches massive campaign around vaccination education

Ad Council

With a number of people nationwide who reportedly say they will refuse to get vaccinated for the coronavirus, officials from the Ad Council & COVID Collaborative Thursday announced a new campaign that aims to change those minds.

The campaign is called “It’s Up to You,” and officials from the AD Council say it’s the largest campaign in U.S. history that is focused on COVID-19 Vaccine Education.

According to the Ad Council, a study conducted by their researchers showed that “approximately 40% of the country has not yet firmly decided whether to get vaccinated against COVID-19, and only 60% of the overall population feels confident they have enough information to guide their decision-making process. And that figure drops dramatically to 40% in the Black and Hispanic communities.”

The campaign launched Thursday hopes to quash some of those fears surrounding the vaccine, as the FDA earlier this week said a new vaccine from Johnson and Johnson is also safe and effective, joining the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines which are already being distributed.

American Medical Association President Dr. Susan Bailey is working close with the campaign.

“There has been an increasing distrust of science through the years that started before the pandemic,” she said. “And unfortunately with the political nature of an election year, I think many of those fears and distrusts became worse during the pandemic.”

Officials say the “It’s up to you” campaign will have a far reach on multiple platforms, as Disney, Facebook/Instagram,Google/YouTube, WarnerMedia, Fox, and Twitter, are just a few of the many spaces where the ad will run.
