The Michigan Department of Corrections is now offering internships for service members through the Department of Defenses’ SkillBridge program.
These opportunities are for those serving in the Armed Forces with less than 180 days left in active duty. During the internships job candidates can train as parole agents, probation agents, or other roles with the MDOC.
Kyle Kaminski, the Michigan Department of Corrections spokesperson, says veterans’ special skills are in demand.
“We’ve always made it a priority to try to attract individuals with military service as well as those that are in the reserves because we think they’re a great fit for the Department of Corrections.”
The MDOC has over 1400 positions filled by vets.
