The package could cost doctors who initiate sexual contact under the pretext of medical treatment, their medical license.
It would also outlaw using professional influence to stop someone from reporting child or sex abuse and provide more training materials to mandatory reporters.
Democratic Representative Carol Glanville says other language protecting students who come forward is also important.
“Students or kids or athletes, they might go to a friend or something like that, so as the story comes out, to not have people feeling that retaliation or intimidation. You know, we’ve really allowed these predators to hide behind their reputation.”
The House bills go along with a Senate package that recently passed that chamber.
