House Democrats attempt to censure Rep. Rendon

Michigan House Democrats are seeking to punish a Republican colleague for allegedly facilitating illegal access to voting machines after the 2020 election.

The state attorney general recently asked for a special prosecutor to consider conspiracy charges against Representative Daire Rendon and others.

But Democratic Representative Joe Tate said the House needs to also get involved. He plans to introduce a resolution to censure Rendon this week.

“When you have elected officials that are trying to undermine the Constitution—what they swore an oath to protect and defend to, that is incredibly concerning because of that standard that we’re held to. Not only that but also the distrust that it puts to Michigan residents.”

Rendon did not respond to a request for comment. Republican leadership says it will wait while the legal process plays out.
