Moving COVID-19 vaccines from point A to point B

This week, Dr. Anthony Fauci, science advisor to President Joe Biden, predicted that by April most Americans will have access to the COVID-19 vaccine as supplies increase.

The Healthcare Distribution Alliance is the logistics side of the COVID-19 vaccine supply chain.

“So far, I think as of today, we’ve distributed and delivered 68-million products nationwide and about 46-million of those has been administered.”

Matt DiLoreto is Vice President of State Government Affairs for the Healthcare Distribution Alliance.

“All these products are being distributed at the direction of the government. So, from day one when HDA’s largest member, McKesson, was chosen as the federal centralized distributor for vaccine, they have been keeping pace with the supply of product made available out there. So, I think in Michigan almost 2 million products have been delivered into the state and about 1.4 million have been administered. So, just like I said with those national numbers that we’re definitely keeping pace and now the Biden Administration has said that they are planning to increase supplies by about 20% through the implementation of the Defense Production Act and some other steps being taken.”

DiLoreto says the HDA is confident it can absorb and distribute the increased vaccine supply.
