Grand Rapids Police Investigating Homicide on City's Southeast Side
Another weekend, another murder in Grand Rapids, as the deadliest year in city history continued Saturday. According to a press release from the Grand Rapids Police Department, officers responded to a report of shots fired in the area of Franklin Avenue and Dolbee Street SE. There, a gunshot victim was located in front of a residence in the 900 block of Thomas Street SE. Police say began life saving efforts were administered, but "the victim unfortunately died on scene at approximately 7:00 PM."
The victim has been preliminarily identified as a male, age 28. There are no suspects at this time.
Detectives from the Major Case Team were called to the scene to investigate, along with members of the Forensic Services Unit. An autopsy will be conducted by the Kent County Medical Examiner’s Office. Detectives are asking anyone with information to contact the Department or Silent Observer.
