Cases of the coronavirus continue to skyrocket in Michigan, as the state hit a new one-day record over the weekend, with more than 6,000 new COVID-19 virus cases having been reported in Michigan. According to the state Department of Health and Human Services, 6,225 new coronavirus infections were reported Saturday, the biggest single day jump in positive cases ever.
To make things worse, the previous record came just two days earlier on Thursday.
Another 65 deaths were attributed Saturday to the virus, including 42 from a review of vital records. In total, 7,578 people in Michigan have died this year from complications due to the virus.
Nearly 207,800 virus cases have now been confirmed in the state since the start of the pandemic earlier this year.
