Former Michigan State University president, Lou Anna Simon was in court today. Simon faces multiple criminal charges for allegedly lying to law enforcement.
The charges are part of the state Attorney General’s Office’s ongoing investigation into M-S-U’s handling of Larry Nassar. He’s the former Michigan State sports doctor who sexually assaulted his patients for decades.
Officials say Simon lied to investigators about what she knew about a 20-14 investigation into Nassar following a sexual assault complaint.
Lee Silver is one of Simon’s attorneys.
“She is being treated as if she is a criminal when she has done absolutely nothing wrong and we’re going to prove that.”
During the proceeding, the charges were formally read to Simon and court dates were scheduled. Simon’s next court date is scheduled for mid-December.
