Michigan DNR seeks applicants for Youth Conservation Council

Teens -- ages 14 to 18 -- are being sought for positions on the state's Natural Resources Commission Youth Conservation Council.

Michigan Department of Natural Resources officials say applications are being accepted through April 30.

Young people who care about Michigan's outdoors will have an opportunity to gain leadership experience, explore outdoor recreation issues and participate in activities under DNR guidance.

Appointments to the council are for two years. Members are expected to participate in four meetings each year. At least two meetings will be offered as weekend training sessions at a conference facility.

The council will present recommendations to the Natural Resources Commission and DNR about policy, program and legislative changes members believe will boost the interest and involvement of young people in the outdoors.
