Law enforcement dog helps capture man in Grand Rapids attic

Authorities say a law enforcement dog helped capture a man wanted on a felony warrant who was holed up in a Grand Rapids home's attic.
Police say 45-year-old Raymond Bettison was arrested Wednesday for carrying a concealed weapon and a probation violation out of Allegan County. Members of a fugitive task force spotted him earlier in the day. Police later determined that he was in the attic and sent the K9 dog inside.
The dog bit him and police say Bettison was taken to a hospital before being jailed.

Kent County jail records say Bettison was in custody on Thursday morning. Records didn't indicate whether he had a lawyer yet. The Grand Rapids Press reports that records say Bettison was freed from prison in 2013 after serving time for assault.
