Deputies hurt in struggle with man described as suicidal
Authorities say two western Michigan sheriff's deputies were hurt in a fight with a man they describe as suicidal.
Muskegon County Sheriff Dean Roesler tells reporters officers were called to a Sullivan Township home Sunday morning on a report of an armed, suicidal person. The man's relatives were evacuated and some weapons were removed, but a struggle started when officers tried to get a rifle out of his hands.
Roesler says the man screamed and fought as deputies worked to get him into a patrol car, and they subdued him with a stun gun. One deputy has a broken his leg and the other a broken or separated shoulder.
The sheriff says the man had minor injuries and was taken to a hospital for a mental health evaluation.
