Grand Rapids will invest $2.752 million into its city golf course operations.
The funding splits into multiple parts.
Just less than half would funnel into Indian Trails improvements and repairs, including the course’s irrigation system, water and sewer infrastructure and parking lot resurfacing.
About $1.352 million goes toward the addition of a driving range and short-game practice area to the Grand Rapids municipal course.
City officials say these improvements would increase attendance, rounds played and revenue needed for future sustainability.
The measure passed by 5-2 at this week’s city commission meeting. First Ward Commissioners Walt Gutowski and Dave Shaffer both voted no.
Work is expected to begin next month and be mostly completed by next April.
