Disability Network Lakeshore (DNL) is seeking nominations for its 11th Ability Award event. Launched in 2011, the Ability Award is given annually to an individual in Allegan or Ottawa County who promotes a spirit of inclusion and a community without barriers. The 2021 nomination form is available at abilityaward.net and the nomination deadline is August 9, 2021. Allegan and Ottawa County residents or workers who are engaged in leadership, engagement, advocacy, and empowerment of individuals with disabilities are eligible to receive this honor. Nominees may be someone who lives with a disability, has a family member with a disability, or is a friend or ally to the disability community. All nominees and the 2021 Ability Award recipient will be honored during a hybrid celebration in late October. Due to the continued uncertainty of the COVID-19 Pandemic, our event will have both in-person and virtual options for participants and attendees.
