LANSING, Mich. (AP) - State officials are seeking public comment on two draft requests for information and proposals that will be issued to contractors interested in performing independent risk analysis and independent alternatives analysis on pipelines in the Straits of Mackinac.
The state says the draft documents are due by Friday.
Previous drafts of the proposals have been reviewed by the Pipeline Safety Advisory Board which has provided input.
The Enbridge Line 5 pipelines carry up to 23 million gallons of oil daily beneath the waterway where Lakes Huron and Michigan meet.
Analyses were recommended by the Michigan Petroleum Pipeline Task Force in July 2015.
