A liberal advocacy group says the state Attorney General has improperly used his office for political activity for close to a decade.
Progress Michigan released more emails today that it got from a lawsuit against Bill Schuette.
One of the emails shows that Schuette may have used a state office building for a meeting about the then upcoming Republican National Convention. Others are sent between employees and political allies during 9 to 5 hours on weekdays.
Lonnie Scott is with Progress Michigan. He says it’s illegal for the A-G or his staff to use state time and resources for outside political purposes.
“At some point, this is a culture of letting people know how they should conduct this political business on their personal emails, even if this is happening on state time.”
A spokesperson for Schuette says Progress Michigan is playing political games a week ahead of the primary in order to try and change the outcome of the election. Schuette is a Republican candidate for governor.
