Grand Rapids Seeks Resident Input For New Website

Residents in Grand Rapids are being asked for input as the City starts the process to redesign its website.  The goal is to make it more user friendly.  Here’s what the city wants you to do.

“We want everyone to have their voices heard; it’s about a 10 minute survey and you can do it right from your smart phone or your laptop.”

City of Grand Rapids Communications Director, Steve Guitar says for the next six weeks they’ll be looking at what it is city residents want in the city website.  He says they’ll start from scratch.

“And develop a website that just doesn’t work for city hall, but for the residents in Grand Rapids. I think that’s the most important goal that we keep in mind.”

Guitar says they have received varying feedback, adding their current website needs critical updating especially in our high tech society.

“We are finding about 30 to 50 percent of our user experience is done on a mobile phone now, so that’s going to be another critical upgrade to our new website.”

And to really get a handle of the needs and desires of community residents, Guitar says they’ll even be going out in the community seeking feedback.

“A second phase is to just go out and interact and find out, give them a task , can you find the SEV on your house and watch and see how they interact.”

The survey says Guitar will only take about ten minutes to complete and he encourages residents to take part.  You can give your feedback about your web experience by logging on to grcity.us/survey.
