Just over two months since the midterm primary, election season is already heating up for 2020, as Monday, Grand Rapids Mayor Rosalynn Bliss launched her campaign for re-election.

It’s been over three years since Bliss took the oath of office, becoming the first female mayor in the city’s 167 year history.

Mayor Bliss issued this statement quote:

“I am proud of all that we have accomplished since 2015,"' Bliss said in a press release announcing her campaign. “We have moved the needle in a positive direction for many, but there is still a lot of work to do to make sure that more residents share in the success of our city and region.”

In 2014, voters approved a proposal effectively establishing term limits on elected officials, if elected in 2020, it would be the final term for Mayor Bliss.
