Family Fun and Fitness At Salvation Army Kroc Center

The Salvation Army Kroc Center is encouraging family fitness and fun during this summer’s hot spell.  For the rest of the month, they’re hosting free, family fitness nights.

“As hot as it’s been lately, everybody’s been looking for ways to cool off… and the Kroc Center is a great place to do that.”

That’s Jon Shaner, Marketing and P.R. Director for the Salvation Army Kroc Center.  He says they’re holding a series of “Family Fun and Fitness Nights” for the rest of this month.

“Coming up Wednesdays, the 11th, 18th and 25th you can come out, take a family fitness class, work up a nice sweat, then go cool off on the giant slip n slide and have a great time with your family.”

There will also be face painting among other activities.. Jon says it’s important to remember that not everyone gets to go on “vacation” and these family funs days are important.

“We just want to make memories for people during the summer. Not everyone gets to go on vacation. Come down, cool off, have some family fun.  Just get outside and enjoy the fresh air while we have it.  Do something fun for the family.”

Not only that, but Jon says staying in shape or developing an interest in good health is also a key component of the family fitness days.

“What the idea is to develop healthy habits to kids as they’re growing up.  Getting kids to follow along during a Zumba class… this is something that is important to mom and dad.

We want everyone at the Kroc center to be ready to go on their fitness journey. That lead to a healthier lifestyle overall.”

Classes will be canceled if there’s inclement weather.  You can get more information at GRKROC CENTER.ORG
