Detroit Tigers host GVSU Night at Comerica Park

Grand Valley State University President Thomas Haas along with the vice chair of the GVSU Board of Trustees will kick off GVSU Night at Comerica Park tonight in Detroit. At least 3 bus loads will make their way from the Allendale and Grand Rapids’ campuses.

“It’s our first event to be participating in at Comerica Park, so we’re extremely excited about it," Courtney Geurink, director of Alumni Relations at GVSU said.

More than 23-hundred tickets were sold to Grand Valley community members for tonight’s game against the Kansas City Royals. Guerink says there’s even more good news and the student scholarship fund will benefit.

“So, President Haas will be throwing the first pitch for the game, and then the check presentation will involve president Haas, Mary Kramer, the Board Of Trustee and student alumni as well. Because of the number of tickets that were sold, 11-thosuand dollars is coming back to Grand Valley’s student scholarship fund, so it will just be a great way to kick off the night tonight,” Geurink said.

GVSU Night is a special opportunity for GVSU students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends to celebrate the University at a Tigers game. Geurink says they hope to make this an annual event and the only thing that will make it even better, is win by the Tigers over the Royals.
