Greg VanWoerkom is the District Director for US Congressman Bill Huizenga and previously served as the senior policy advisor to U.S. Representative Pete Hoekstra. VanWoerkom serves on the board of the United Way of the Lakeshore and is Board President for Western Michigan Christian High and Middle School.

“This is my first time running for office. I have spent my professional life solving problems here in West Michigan to improve our economy and quality and life. I am running because there is an excitement here in Muskegon County and I am ready from day one to serve and continue the economic comeback we are experiencing. There is more work to be done on approving education achievement, strategically investing in infrastructure, and laying for the foundation for further job creation. And I am ready to be a leader and partner for Muskegon County to get it done.”

Alan Jager is the current supervisor for Holton Township and is former Muskegon County Commissioner.

“Being an ex-county commissioner and current township supervisor I know how important it is to get local control back to the people. And right now I believe that Lansing keeps getting bigger and bigger and taking that control away. We don’t have as much of say on how we get our roads get rebuilt, we don’t have as much say toward the things that we need to have done. So with me, I would really to see funding back to the roads and spending so much on bicycle paths, these big lights, more signage, and all that kind of stuff, and then I think the Muskegon County deficit is terribly, terribly bad.”

The primary is set for August 7th
