In Grand Rapids 77th House District primaries were held for G.O.P. and Democratic candidates. Incumbent Republican Tommy Brann received more than 90-percent of the vote handily defeating challenger Jordan Oesch.  A small business owner, Brann says he’ll lower tax rates and increase law enforcement funding keeping neighborhoods safe.

For Democrats, in a more closely contest primary, the choice was Dana Knight over Robert Van Kirk.

"My ultimate goal is whatever I do and wherever I am, I’m doing it, you know, for a better world for everybody,” Knight said.

November shapes up as a rematch between Knight and Brann. Knight lost to Brann in the 77th District’s 2016 General Election.
